FEI President visits Pony Club Centre and ILPH Headquarters
FEI
President, HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein
visited Somerby
Equestrian Centre, Leicestershire and the International
League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) headquarters, Norfolk on
Saturday, 24th
February. Somerby Equestrian Centre runs one
of many Pony Club Centre Membership programmes, designed for children
who do not own their own pony but would like to become involved in Pony
Club activities and do so through their local riding school.
The scheme was instigated in 1998 and in 2005 received
substantial funding from Sport England as part of a joint initiative
with the British Equestrian Federation to improve participation. During
her visit Princess Haya also visited the
ILPH Headquarters in Norfolk.
During a tour of the facilities at Hall Farm the party had the
opportunity to meet horses currently
undergoing rehabilitation and find out more about the work of the ILPH
both in the UK and overseas. (
